Alfredo Gonzales Texas State Veterans Home

The Texas State Veterans Home in McAllen is named after Sergeant Alfredo “Freddy” Gonzalez. Gonzalez served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1965 to 1968. Because of his skilled leadership and heroic actions during this battle he was posthumously awarded the Medal of Honor.

The Alfredo Gonzalez Texas State Veterans Home opened in 2005 and has 160 beds, of which 60 are designated to memory care.
