Community Description
Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community originated in Puyallup as the Lutheran Home in 1938, in 1972 the Lutheran Home moved to East B Street temporarily and there became Tacoma Lutheran Home. In 1978, we moved to our current location and have been growing ever since! In 1986 we formed our Foundation which now plays one of the most important roles here at Tacoma Lutheran. In 1998 we added our Assisted Living Units and expanded those in 2001. In 2010 our Emerson Wellness and Clark Aquatic Center opened its doors and now offers seven days a week programs to help our residents and staff stay healthy and fit! The Edwards Plaza, Arnekev Gardens, and Chihuly Family Art Center opened in 2014, and we now have a wide varity of fun and educational classes for our residents and their families. Our residents have started groups to help better our community through their art! Over the next few years we would remodel and renovate our departments from our Memory Care, Northridge, and our Rehabilitation and Therapy Department. TLRC has become a small community within itself. TLRC is the largest not-for-profit Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC) in Pierce County. We are entwined in the Tacoma Community and hope to continue that through the years. Our future here at Tacoma Lutheran Retirement Community is bright with the continued growth of our campus. Over the next couple of years you will see our campus blossom more as we continue expanding our efforts to serve our community here at TLRC and our outside community.
