For more than 100 years, Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care (formerly known as The Scottish Home) has been providing care to seniors in North Riverside. Founded by the Illinois Saint Andrew Society, the oldest charity in the state of Illinois, and supported by the Chicago Scots, Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care is proud to have its roots in Scottish culture while providing a home for senior of many ethnicities. This community provides loving care, friendship, peace of mind, and a variety of enriching activities. The intimate size allows the staff to develop a close bond with the residents as well as their families. This is the type of bond that you would experience in your own home and that is precisely what makes this community special.

Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care provides assisted living, memory care & skilled nursing in a unique woodland setting just minutes from Oak Park and Chicago. Caledonia Senior Living is part of the oldest non-profit in Illinois, the Chicago Scots.

For generations, The Scottish Home has enjoyed a rich tradition of enhancing lives and empowering seniors to live life with dignity, surrounded by compassionate people who care for and about them. When the Caledonian House was added to the campus in 2016, this tradition was extended to serve people living with Alzheimer’s disease and memory loss.

Now, another new chapter in this long, storied history is about to begin. To better reflect an expanded range of campus services, The Scottish Home is launching a new name: Caledonia Senior Living & Memory Care. This new, evolved brand identity captures the voices of the community, represents the core values, and accurately presents this community as A Place for Everyone, Where Friends Become Family.

Not coincidentally, the launch of this new name coincides with the 100-year anniversary of the “rebirth” of Scottish Home. In early 1917, a fire destroyed the original Scottish Home. Less than 12 months later, the Scottish Home was rebuilt and reopened with a new, more inclusive commitment to welcome those seniors who were Scottish by birth, by heritage, or simply by inclination. There is powerful symbolism in launching a new brand in the centenary of the Home’s incredible recovery, and honor this milestone that is a large part of this community's story.
